Welcome to Abzanspondor

Abzanspondor was the idea of Dave Phelps, a player for another team in Soccer Sensations' Tuesday night first division. He had the great idea of starting a team of his own. One winter night in 1998 at the local gathering place, which was a small flat in Netherfields, a discussion arose between four friends. They all agreed that a team should be entered into the Soccer Sensations league.

First came the gathering of players. The first name in the frame was Barry Bellamy the oldest of the group, and soon was followed by Anthony Putson (Chovi) he always fancied himself as the joker in the pack. Then came Sean Sullivan (The Stomp), Anthony Lochrane (Loko) and Grant Maddison (Giddy). All what was needed now was a name, which came from the bizarre mind of Chovi. "Abzanspondor" was born.

The application form was filled in and the team was soon in the thick of the action, straight into the Monday Night Third division. Starting the campaign with a win, things started great but the second game was a struggle and was a loss of the mighty new team. They were lacking goals in a big way, Grant made a suggestion, he wanted to bring his mate down to play, so they welcomed this suggestion next game Grant brought a Andrew Harding, and to say the least he was outstanding. The Manager was soon asking for he commitment to us and he agreed. Little did they know this was going to be the start of something good...
